French artist Hubert Duprat has co-created beautiful jewelry with some unusual artistic partners, the common caddisfly. They are a moth-like insect often used as bait for trout fishermen and when their larvae is developing, they spin themselves a protective silk case, incorporating materials from their surrounding environment.
It was this that Duprat utilised; by replacing their environment of twigs and gravel with gold and semi precious stones the caddis created the most beautiful silk cases entwined delicately with pearls and lapis lazuli.
Stunning. If anyone can’t think what to get me for Christmas one year…!
